Owned by Data Platforms, Content Stripping is used to remove URLs, email addresses, phone numbers and rude language from a property summary, description and key features.

Why do we have Content Stripping?

There are two main reason why we have content stripping:

  • The agent is not able to get the best value for their lead analysis reports, and there is no way of us being able to determine for an agent that a lead has come from Rightmove.
  • Security and Fraud - In the past we have seen cases where a fraudster has gained access to an agents account and edited the property descriptions with contact details that would point the consumer in the direction of a fraudster, and not the agent.

How does Content Stripping work?

Whenever a property is added to Rightmove our systems will automatically check for contact information, certain phrases or rude language. If this is located on the property, it will be stripped out of the descriptions. The property will still load to our site though.

What specifically does Content Stripping look for?

  • Phone numbers
  • Email addresses
  • Rude language
  • No DSS / No Housing benefit

What if a property does load with this information?

Please raise this to the Support Analysts and they can look into why the property has successfully loaded with the above information (when it shouldn't have)
