Reviews from a previous operator remain visible on the development’s HomeViews page even after a new operator takes over. This ensures transparency and continuity for prospective residents, who benefit from seeing the full history of resident feedback.

HomeViews is committed to providing a complete and accurate picture of the resident experience at each development. Reviews reflect the lived experience of residents at a specific location, regardless of who was managing the building at the time. Removing reviews when an operator changes would compromise the integrity of the platform and reduce the value of the insights available to renters.

We keep the older reviews on the development page because those reviews will still be relevant to prospective residents wanting to know about the building, location and community.

We can rename the development page for the new owner branding, and wording will be added to the development’s description letting visitors to the page know that there has been a name change and a new company from the takeover date. We’ll also explain that reviews before the takeover date will relate to the previous company.

HomeViews has a decay algorithm and every 12 months the older reviews have less impact compared to newer reviews. We would encourage new owners/management to actively collect new reviews to reflect the current experience.

Additionally, from a data and insights perspective, you can see how scores and sentiment have changed from the takeover date. Have management scores increased? How has the sentiment around the management company changed since the takeover date?
